Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Hos. 2:16b, 17b,21-22
Ps 103:1-4,8,10,12-13
2 Cor. 3:1b-6
Mk 2:18-22

  • Why do religious people fast? What do they expect to happen as a result? Do you find this practice meaningful?

  • What do you plan for your observation of Lent this year? How do you hope that these practices might help you to enter more deeply into the paschal mystery?

  • What was Paul's point in calling his converts his letters of recommendation? What does the image say about the dignity and challenge of your Christian life?

A REAL FAST
Is not this the fast that I choose;
To loose the bonds of injustice,
to undo the thongs of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
and break every yoke?
Is is not to share your bread with the hungry,
and bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked, to cover them,
and not to hide yourself from your own kin?

Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

  • Are there conflicts in your family, church or community that need healing? What can you do to be a uniter rather than a divider?
  • What does imitation of Christ and of Paul mean for you? What forms might it take?
  • Do you ever begin the day by praying that all your thoughts and actions may be "for the glory of God?" What difference does it make?

Welcome

Welcome to the Reflections Section of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Junction City, Kansas.
These are the bits of devotionals and humor placed in the St. Xavier Parish Bulletin. I wanted to include them, yet not within the “ANNOUNCEMENTS” that work better for the emailed version of the bulletin. If you would like to see the blog based bulletin, click here.
